The Benefits of Play
When Hudson was an infant he was a little bit of a handful. If any of you read my old blog, Petitecomeaux, you may remember me constantly writing about the struggle. But, even in the throws of a colic fueled cry fest, there was one sure fired thing that would get him to stop, take a breath and even crack a smile. And that was simply going outside.

There was something about the fresh air, the change of scenery, the endless sights and sounds that immediately calmed his little soul. And honestly, 4 years later, this still holds true. I can not describe the amount of joy that immediately spreads across his face when you ask him if he wants to go play outside. It's like the biggest treat he could possibly imagine.
Whether it's to the playground, to play in the sand volleyball courts next door or just walking the dog around the neighborhood it is a major thrill for the whole family. Because that is when his imagination comes alive. When he transforms from Hudson into Optimus Prime or an LSU football player or a ninja. It's when we get to watch him try new and daring things like climbing trees ( a little higher each time) or trying out the fireman's pole at the playground for the first time.
